Tournament Overview & Rules (Updated August 2023)

 

Lineups

  • Must bat at least 9 players at all times
  • Players can be added to the bottom of the order during the game, but once added, they are in the lineup until the game concludes
  • All lineup substitutions are final, there is no re-entry and there are no courtesy runners other than running for the catcher with 2 outs (must be last batted out)
  • Defensive substitutions can be made freely throughout the game except for the pitcher position

Game Play

  • During pool play games there is a hard stop at 3 hours, no exceptions. Score reverts back to last completed inning. Ties are allowed.
  • Home and away is determined randomly as set in the schedule posted during pool play. During playoffs, home team is always the highest seed.
  • Games are scheduled to be 9 innings, again time limits apply during pool play games
  • All players are to use wood, wood composite and/or bamboo bats during game play
  • Each team is given 4 baseballs per game, please collect foul balls
  • Any extra innings will start with last batter from previous inning start on second base

Playoffs

  • First tie breaker is Run Differential, Second is Runs Against, Third is Runs Forward, Fourth is Head to Head, Fifth is record versus Common Opponents
  • Format is single elimination, top 4 teams from pool play will be seed 1 thru 4 in accordance to standings and tie breakers
  • Semi-Finals will have a tie extension but ultimately will be capped at 3.5 hours in order to get Championship Game played Sunday night. 

Player Conduct

  • Any ejection is an automatic 2 game suspension during the tournament, with the right reserved to increase if necessary
  • Please clean up and treat each field as "carry in, carry out" garbage unless there are dumpsters provided
  • Runners are to try and avoid contact at all times. Any collisions will be left to umpire discretion to determine intent.

MISC

  • Rosters to be submitted through Player Waiver submission at least 5 days ahead of start of tournament. Refunds not granted for no-shows.
  • All scores are to be reported by text, win or lose
  • Fees from extra player registrations will be placed in a pot, half the pot being given to tournament winner and half being donated to RHYBL and Charlotte Youth evenly split.
  • Starting 2023 Tournament, we have moved to a digital scorebook thru IScore which pairs with SportsEngine platform we use for our website (using a tablet is best). To prepare yourself, the week of:
    • Game Manager
    • Click Add +
    • Discover Game
    • SportsEngine
    • Rochester Baseball League
    • Select one game at a time
    • Click Import, confirm import, click yes, click 'ok'
    • Click Back twice, should take you back to Game Manager and you'll see the game you just imported there.
    • Click on Game, score game
    • Enter lineups, positions for Home and Visitor, click Done (if a person is a potential sub, leave them in the lineup at the bottom and click on 'batting' and change to No when it asks if you if the player is a starter. This is important for substitutions later in the game.
    • Click Play!
    • Scoring the game is not too bad.
      • For Substitutions, lineup and pitching, click on the field view on that specific player and it will bring you to substitutions.
      • For Stolen Bases, courtesy for catcher, passed balls, wild pitches, click on the runner, make sure you click the next base and select how the base runner changed or advanced.
      • There is an undo button at the bottom if the wrong selection is made.
    • When the game is done, click 'exit'
    • This will take you to game info. Select winning pitcher or losing pitcher for your team and opponent
    • Under options at the bottom, click ISCORECAST Synchronize
    • Then back on the main page in the IScore app, Click OPTIONS
      • Synchronization, change to Any Internet, change to Send
      • Bottom left, there is an export button, click Export then OK
    • Digital scorebook, digital stats. Standings will update.  The only thing I will need is text confirm of score (just in case of discrepancy) and also, I'll know the game is final. I need to log in and change the game from "in progress" to final in order for standings to update.  You can only import games within a week of the actual game start time. 

    • The other neat thing, is tell your fans at home to download IScore Central and search your team, and they can watch the game through that app just like watching on espn gamecast.
